Unfortunately, there is not enough vaccine in the city right now for everyone who wants it. So the Health Department needs to make sure that people who are at the highest risk from COVID can get access to it first. This form will let the Health Department know that you are interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, and make sure that people with the highest risk can get it first. Dear Neighbors:

On Friday I emailed you with great urgency, at the request of the City's Law Department, asking you to submit an affidavit to the Law Department regarding a pending case and to do so by this Monday.

Yesterday, the City retracted its request. The City will not use affidavits submitted in response to its now-withdrawn request. The City's statement can be found here: view article

We apologize for CCRA's lack of diligence in this matter as we should not have made a request to our membership in reliance on the City's representations without conducting our own independent inquiry. 

As we now understand it, the point of the affidavits was to memorialize resident concerns about quality of life policing, and to use the affidavits as part of litigation concerning a potential ruling in Bailey et. al. v. City of Philadelphia, case no. 2:10-cv-05952 (E.D. Pa.). To review the relevant submissions by the parties, see below:

CCRA is extremely disappointed with all involved, including the City, that no effort was made--other than at the 11th hour and in a terribly mismanaged way--to engage community groups regarding our residents’ concerns and how, if at all, a court ruling may impact the resolution of those concerns. 

We understand that many of our residents remain very concerned about quality of life issues and discriminatory police conduct, and we will consider how to engage with all relevant entities, including potentially the City's Law Department, to make sure that our concerns on both points are heard in a responsible, transparent and ethical manner.

Following the success of the open access clinics at the Center City Vaccination Center, the Health Department has committed to facilitating access to COVID-19 vaccine for Philadelphians who may be uncomfortable or have difficulty registering online for a vaccine appointment. The City knows that many of our seniors aren’t as internet savvy as younger Philadelphians, so in addition to making the City’s Vaccine Interest form available by calling 311, the Health Department is opening walk-up clinics in three of the hardest hit sections of the city.

In 2020, Philadelphia lost 447 people to gun violence – the most gun related homicides in 30 years.  With 125 people killed and 546 nonfatal shootings since the start of the year, 2021 is on track to be the worst year on record. We must expand our solutions to match the scale of the problem.

Uncle George Productions, LLC will be filming scenes for the television show SERVANT in your neighborhood on Tuesday, April 20th through Thursday, April 22nd. Please review the information below in the event that it may pertain to you. 
 
Please note that Fitler Square Park will be closed to the public on the following dates:

Wednesday, April 21st, 2021
Thursday, April 22nd, 2021

In order to make our filming possible, the Philadelphia Police Department will temporarily close the 200 and 300 block of S. 24th St and the 2400 block of Delancey Pl. to vehicular traffic on April 20th from approximately 7 AM until 7 PM. We will also be intermittently closing the 2300 block of Pine St. during these hours.

Streets will be permitted as NO PARKING zones in order to support our equipment and production vehicles. We kindly ask that residents move their vehicles prior to our arrival. Any vehicles not moved will be relocated to another street in the neighborhood by the Philadelphia Police Department. Below are the dates and times of the NO PARKING zones.

• East side of S. 24th Street between Delancey Place and Pine Street

• North side of Pine Street between S. 23rd Street and S. 24th Street

• Both sides of S. 24th Street between Manning Street and Pine Street
• Both sides of Pine Street between S. 23rd Street and S. 24th Street
• East side of S. 23rd St. between Spruce Street and Lombard Street
• South side of Delancey Place half block closest to S. 24th St.

As we have during past shoots, we will be offering resident displacement parking on the North side of Locust Street between 20th Street and 23rd Street beginning Sunday, April 18th at 6 AM until Saturday, April 24th at 9 AM. Please park per the resident displacement parking signs, avoid parking on corners and avoid truck and bus turns. To ensure our shoot is completed safely, and with minimal impact to the neighborhood, our production is working closely with the City of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Police Department, and the Greater Philadelphia Film Office (215.686.2668). In order to safeguard the public as well as our cast and crew, we are working under the protocols determined by the City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Pennsylvania Department of Health, film industry COVID-19 specialists, and our own Health & Safety Advisory team. All of our crew will be tested for COVID-19 prior to filming in your neighborhood. Symptoms will be monitored daily. All crewmembers will be required to wear PPE at all times, and maintain social distancing when possible. Our crew will also be relegated to specific work areas while on site.

On Tuesday morning, U.S. federal health regulators recommended a pause in the use of Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine while they investigated six reports of blood clots in women ages 18 to 48. One has died, and a second is hospitalized in critical condition.

A 2-year-old boy was found safe following an Amber Alert in Philadelphia while his father, who police say is a suspect in the murders of the child's mother and grandmother, is now in custody.

PHILADELPHIA - The Pennsylvania State Police have issued an Amber Alert as they seek to locate a missing 2-year-old boy from Philadelphia. 

Byron McDonald, 2, was last seen on April 9 at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the area of 2500 North Bancroft Street.

Byron is reportedly 2 feet 2 inches tall, weighs approximately 30 pounds, and it is unknown what clothing he was in. 

Police say Byron was reportedly abducted by Byron McDonald II. He is a 28-year-old Black man and is approximately 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. 

McDonald is believed to be driving a 2017 red Chevy Malibu with dark tinted windows and a Pennsylvania registration of LMD 3353.
