Founded in 1695, Christ Church has been cited as “the finest specimen of Colonial architecture standing.” During the Revolutionary Era, it hosted the Continental Congresses and counted Benjamin Rush, Benjamin Franklin and Betsy Ross among its members. “No church has played a more significant role in our nation’s birth,” according to David McCullough. Christ Church and its Burial Ground receive over 250,000 visitors annually, making Christ Church one of the most visited historic sites in Philadelphia. The Christ Church Campus is also home to the Neighborhood House – a performance venue in Old City.
This summer, Christ Church will celebrate “Signers Day” on July 3rd including free activities for families & special tours, Free Museum Day on July 4th including special tours and history hunts. A free concert given by the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia will be offered at Christ Church and a free performance of The American Revolution – The Show!
