The goal of CCRA's Education and Family Committee is to provide targeted programming which addresses educational, child development, and social issues. The Committee serves to help develop a sense of community for families with children.
In recognition of the importance of retaining families in Center City, the Committee fosters and maintains relationships with neighboring community associations and elected and administration officials by promoting quality educational opportunities for our children. Relatedly, the Committee strives to strengthen CCRA’s partnerships with neighborhood schools.
- School Fairs: CCRA's Education and Family Committee (along with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association and the South of South Neighborhood Association) hold an annual Elementary School Fair, where representatives from public, charter, independent, and parochial elementary schools share information on their schools and answer questions.
- Children's Programs: For the past three summers, Philadelphia firefighters from Engine 43, Ladder 9, at 2101-14 Market Streets, bring a firetruck to Markward Playground at Taney and Pine Streets. The firefighters help children try on their gear, sit behind the wheel of the firetruck, and squire the fire hose
The Education and Family Committee welcomes CCRA members interested in joining.
